Monochromatic

Diane Von Furstenberg writes “the little black dress is the true friend…she travels with you…is patient and constant…you go to her when you don’t know where else to go and she is ALWAYS reliable and timeless.”

Like the little black dress, nothing has a more elegant touch than a black and white color palette. Photographs, Fashion, and Design can all instantly exude class when a monochromatic color scheme is used. In addition to the predominate trends toward the pure white stones,  natural stones that exude a black and white patterns are highly coveted as well.

Just this year, Designer Paola Navone for Bisazza created a striking line of black and white motif tiles that draw inspiration from pop and graffiti art www.bisazza.com that adds a distinctive design for any back splash.

Below is a sleek modern kitchen with white quartzite countertops, white cabinets and black accents in the pendant lights, cousin runs and metal walls.  The monochromic color scheme of this kitchen, that could have been seen as a small cramped kitchen, now presents itself as clean, large and stylized space that is design magazine feature worthy.

Coco Republic of Australia paired  Jonathan Adler Mongolian fur bench with Preston black and white snake skin mirrors in front of a matte black wall to create a perfect monochromatic sitting area.
